Laboratory

Golden refinery consist of all the necessary equipments for the light and heavy oil products to ensure the quality of all the incoming and outgoing products, below are the list of equipment we use at our golden energy lab:

Sulfur content (Tanaka)

- RX-360SH is a single test version of X-ray
- sulfur meter taking the same measuring principle as that of rx-630SA. Compact housing with a carrying handle and 2-way power source (100-240VAC or 12VDC battery) allows such applications as spot-checking in the field. The only consumables are small piece of Cell sheet and printing roll paper, making the running cost at minimal.

Viscometer For asphalt (brook field)

This test method describes a procedure for measuring the apparent viscosity of bituminous binders at different temperatures from 38 to 260°C using a rotary viscometer and a thermal chamber (Thermosel) for a controlled temperature and to maintain precisely this one. This test is essential for the characterization of the rheological properties of the binder.

Total sediment potential (S.D.M Torino)

Structure made of stainless steel, with front opened jacket, equipped with: bath with capacity of about 7 liters, calibrated brass oil cup with orifice no.1 or no.2, fitted with closing-ballended rod. Temperature regulation by digital thermoregulator PID with PT100 probe class A and overtemperature alarm, stainless steel heater, cooling coil, motor stirrer, insulated double wall, external level indicator and safety internal level for low liquid with warning lamp.

Ductility (Controls)

The ductility test is performed for determining the ductility of bituminous materials by measuring the elongation before breaking when two ends of briquette specimens are pulled apart at a specified speed and temperature. This model fully satisfies and exceeds ASTM D113, ASTM D6084, AASHTO T51 and EN 13398 requirements. A water chiller (see accessories) is ideal for this and may already be available in the laboratory but mains water can also be used. If the ambient temperature goes over 25° C, as in the tropical areas, and cold mains water is not available, the use of a water chiller is mandatory.

RTFOT (Controls)

These ovens are used for measuring the effect of heat and air on a moving film of semi-solid bituminous materials. The internal chamber is made from stainless steel, insulated with fiberglass or similar, with an external frame made from engine-turned stainless steel and a door with a centrally located window. Special attention has been given to the safety features which conform to CE requirements.

Density (Kohleer)

Density is a fundamental physical property that can be used in conjunction with other properties to characterize the quality of crude oils, light and heavy fractions of petroleum and petroleum products. The test method covers the determination of the density or relative density of crude oils, petroleum distillates and viscous oils that can be handled in a normal fashion as liquids at test temperatures between 15 and 35°C.

Viscometer For fuel oil (Tamson)

The modular TV4000AKV EASY is a measuring system that includes everything you need to take precise and reproducible automated kinematic viscosity measurements. The TV4000AKV EASY is supplied with a single automated measuring channel. Filling and cleaning of the viscometer must be done manually.
Tamson is manufacturing an ASTM D892 foaming dual bath. The ASTM D892 test method covers the foaming characteristics of lubricating oils. Tamson supplies a dual bath setup where one bath can be operated at +24°C and one bath will be operated at +93.5°C.

water content

The instrument is designed and made as per national standard of Iraqi Standard Test Method for Water Content of Transformer Oil in Service (Coulometric Method), industrial standard of iraq Standard Test Method for Water Content of Light Oils (Coulometry).

penetration (Controls)

Cast iron base with leveling screws, digital penetration measurement gauge 0.01 mm precision, release button, automatic zeroing. Semi-automatic model 81-B0101/E is supplied complete with automatic controller, which automatically releases the plunger by a magnetic device, complete with micrometer vertical adjustment and adjustable electronic timer of the fall time, according to EN 1426, ASTM D5, AASHTO T49. Both models are fit with a micrometer vertical adjustment device. Needles, cups, thermometer and mirror are not included and have to be ordered separately.

Softening point (Controls)

he softening point falls in with the temperature at which the binder softens beyond a fixed limit (a deformation of 25mm under the weight of a steel ball). The apparatus to measure this property is the Ring and Ball apparatus, available both in manual and automatic configurations. It is able to control the temperature gradient of the test liquid (air or glycerol) and to detect the binder specimen deformation.
